The Rule 5 Draft will begin in this thread on Saturday, December 22nd, at 12:00 PM EST. It will last for one round.
GMs may draft any player who has one year of service time (over 130 ABs, over 50 IPs, or over 25 Games Pitched) that appears in this league's minor leagues.
You must place any players drafted on your 40 man roster, and if you attempt to waive the player at any time during the following season the team who lost him in the Rule 5 Draft has first priority.
However, you may also draft any non-rostered minor leaguer (has not completed a year of service) that will be 24 years of age or older on January 1, as long as he has been in MiLB for at least a year, and in this case you do not need to put the player on your 40-man roster.
Picks in the draft will last for 4 hours. If you miss your pick the draft will continue to the next person. You will have an additional 20 hours during which you can make the pick up. If you have not picked by then, you lose your pick.
When drafting a player, please post the player's name and position, former team (from our league), and service time, and then announce who is up next, like so:
Pirates select: Daniel Nava, OF, Boston Red Sox One year service time. Mariners are up now.
Please note that these are the official Rule 5 Draft Procedures, ignore any other posts regarding draft procedures as they do not apply to rule 5.
You do not need to use your draft picks. If you would like to help keep things moving, send Ben and me a PM asking us to skip your pick. You can still change your mind; we'll still give you 24 hours to make up your pick, but that way we don't have to wait around for you for 4 hours and we'll get to free agency much faster. You're also welcome to leave picks with us if you know you won't be around when you're on the clock. If you do so, please leave a list long enough that there will be at least 1 player still available on your list when you are on the clock (if your pick is 3 picks away, leave a list of at least 3 players).

Just a reminder of the two types of players eligible to be drafted in the Rule V Draft:
Type 1: These players ARE on a team in Pro-GM, but must be in that team's MINOR LEAGUES. These players HAVE completed a year of service. These players can be ANY AGE.
Type 2: These players ARE NOT on a team in Pro-GM. These players HAVE NOT completed a year of service. These players must be 24 or older.

Because they're new to the game, we are going to protect the A's and Orioles from losing players in the Rule V Draft. You are prohibited from taking players from the A's and Orioles' Pro-GM minor league systems for the draft. In other words, if they forgot to call somebody up that they should have, you may not draft that player. Players in the minor league systems of the other 28 clubs are fair game (if they were left in the minors but have a year of service).
You may still draft players who are in the real life Athletics' and Orioles' systems using the 24 and over rule for players not on a Pro-GM roster (real life Athletics or Orioles who are 24 or older but don't have a year of service and aren't on a team in Pro-GM).
I understand that FM was called up yesterday, but he had well over 130 ABs. Locke has 51 career IP and has appeared in more than 30 games, how is he not eligible? Thanks.
