This thread is for new GM's only. As stated in the announcement, new GM's will have the ability to release one contract they no longer wish to be on their team's books. This clause may only be used once per team per season, so if you're a new GM whose team has already changed GMs once previously this season prior to you taking over, you will not be able to use this clause (the offseason counts as a part of the season that it precedes). Please post the player's name and salary in this thread.

RP- Alex Burnett (2nd year) (.5M) This thread was for replacement GMs only, to drop bad contracts. If you want to drop Burnett you can post him in the "buy outs" section, but you'd still be on the hook for his salary this year.

New GMs may still release one contract that they no longer want on the books, but only if the team has not already released a player in this way this calendar year (so if a GM change has already occurred this year for your team and the GM released a contract, your team is no longer eligible for this).
Teams that have already used this option: Rockies, Phillies, Tigers, Cubs, Padres, Orioles, Mets, Diamondbacks, Nationals, Marlins
Any other new GM is free to use this option.

Looking back on all this contracts dont you guys think this WONT happen again? Or do you think it Will When you look through all of the long term free agent contracts signed last winter, there are extremely few that I consider to have been good deals. Almost all of them were overpaid. Hopefully, people will be a little bit more cautious this winter.

It should be interesting as we have a lot of newbies and the frenzy of it can be a lot, even for us veterens (only two years, I know) but there are few players that are worth a quarter of payroll. Like Ben said, a lot of overpaid contracts, espcially to old and declining players.
Either way, i'm looking forward to it.
