Meyer is expected to miss most of the season anyway, but if he comes back and somehow gets to the limits I don't want to have to worry about it. Buehler is a top prospect, but I have Kershaw, Carrasco, Stroman, Lucchesi, Weaver, Erlin, and Richard in my rotation already. Chirinos is a long reliever/bullpen game starter this year, but with my rotation depth already he isn't necessary (and he won't provide many stats out of the bullpen).

Bird is injured. I expect I'll lift this redshirt once he's back but since he's 3rd year anyway there's no harm in tagging him just in case since it'll be the last chance to do so.
Josh Bell is at 1B. Should it be needed I can also move Anthony Rizzo to 1B with Eduardo Nunez (my current DH) taking Rizzo's place at 2B. Plenty of DH depth between Nunez and Odubel Herrera.

C Tom Murphy (minors) - Murphy is currently in the minors and though I may expect to see him called up sometime this season, I'd like to tag him because of my depth at the catcher position with Kurt Suzuki and Russell Martin, both of whom receive regular playing time.

I have Eduardo Escobar, Scooter Gennett, Gio Urshela, and Ronald Torreyes that can all cover 3B. Ryon Healy too but then I’m empty at 1B. Should be plenty of coverage.

Verdugo is an up and coming star in the OF. Intent of the redshirt tag is to give him a little time between AAA and MLB to get used to the Majors and use him for full seasons starting next year. I think there's a better than 50% chance I lift this redshirt within the next month. But I figure I might as well try to see if I can do without him since he's 3rd year anyway and this is my last chance to redshirt... Eduardo Nunez covers 3B [his other positions are occupied by Rizzo (2B), Correa (SS), and Trout, Benintendi, and Mazara (OF)] while Odubel Herrera is my DH.
Basically my entire offense needs to stay healthy for this redshirt to last, but I might as well hope for the best since lifting it later costs me nothing...
