Just a quick refresher as we approach that time of year again!

If two teams are tied for the division lead, the winner will be the team with the best record within the division.
After that, the tiebreaker goes to winning streak, more or less. If you're on a one game winning streak and your opponent is on a one game losing or tying streak, you win the tiebreaker.
If you're on an 8 game winning streak and your opponent is on a 9 game winning streak, they win the tiebreaker.
One important implication of this tiebreaker is that whichever team came from behind most recently to force the tie is the one that advances.
If two teams are tied for the wild card lead, division record doesn't matter. It's all about winning streak, in that case.

In the playoffs, ties are broken based on regular season head-to-head record.
If still tied, it goes to playoff seed. Since two teams can't have the same playoff seed, this will certainly break the tie. Playoff seeds appear to be determined using only the second tiebreaker from above. In other words, a wild card winner could be the number 1 seed and the division winner the number 2 seed if the teams finished tied, the division winner had a better divisional record, but the wild card winner had a better streak going.

In the World Series, we break our own ties based on who would have won more regular season match ups between the two teams. Yahoo might declare a winner that disagrees with our tiebreaker. We go by our tiebreaker, not Yahoo's, which is arbitrary due to us having our World Series in a separate league.
