Hi guys,
It has come to my attention that the lack of communication from the commissioners and the passing of the originally scheduled dates for off-season events has caused a bit of unease around the league, to the point where speculation of the league coming to a permanent end has arisen.
First, allow me to apologize (both personally and on behalf of Ben, Tucker, and Smitty) for this lack of communication and for not sticking to the schedule that was set. I didn't mean for my silence to cause any concern, I've simply been trying to avoid making decisions without the consent of the other commissioners and I've been trying to avoid making further promises and commitments to the league that I couldn't keep. I'm not trying to make any excuses, but I think you should know that for the last 6 weeks I've been going through a very difficult transitional period after suffering a death in the family and as a result of this, other priorities that I didn't foresee have taken up the vast majority of my time. I had hoped that I could take a backseat role during this time and allow the other commissioners to take on the bulk of the work, but I failed to communicate this to them and they too have had their own difficulties (technical and otherwise) and conflicting priorities so this didn't go as smoothly as I'd hoped. I apologize and going forward I will see to it that this does not continue.
Second, allow me to say with absolute certainty that Pro-GM is NOT in any danger of shutting down. Yes, we are behind schedule compared to past off-seasons, but there is now an official date and thread for the Rule V Draft which will be followed shortly by Free Agency and the start of another great season. I am confident that we still have plenty of time (over 2 months!) to complete free agency and be ready for the start of the 2015 season.
Ben and I started Pro-GM 4 years ago and have willingly devoted countless hours to running and leading it. With the help of each and every one of you (especially Smitty and Tucker in their roles as co-commissioners) we've seen it grow and develop into a great league and a community that we are very proud of. It may not always be easy to devote the time this league needs to run smoothly, but we are giving it our best and will continue to do so.
If you have any questions, concerns, suggestions, or comments, please contact me by PM and I will be more than happy to address them.
-Brian
P.S. I owe a very big thank you to Max for his assistance with finalizing the last few rosters we were missing, I couldn't have gotten those done without him and am very appreciative of the work he put into those!
