So I just set up the playoff league on Yahoo. The past couple years I've been late doing it, because registration closes mid-summer (and last year they moved it forward on me, I believe). I needed to get it set up now in order to have any chance of it happening.
This year I decided to do something a little different. I need to have the league run all season long in order to generate distinct playoff seeding. Usually I just randomly stick the best players onto their different teams but this year I thought, let's have a little fun with it and actually choose the players for each of the teams. And I thought of a fun way to do that:
So, each of the six teams in the league will represent one of the different Pro-GM divisions, and we'll vote on which players from that division make each team. Then we'll let these teams play out the season (I'll move players from the bench to active occasionally in case of injury, but that's it) until the start of the playoffs, and see which division all star team finishes 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. Then when we're ready for the ALCS and NLCS I'll clear the rosters, change the team names to the four remaining playoff teams, and it'll just be regular playoffs from there. So it's a multi-use league: All Stars until mid September, and then Pro-GM Playoffs after.
We'll use the rosters as of May 1, since there was a lot of April trading but there's been a lull in May so far. I'll leave voting open until May 15, which is when free agents are allowed to start being traded. Redshirted players will not be eligible.
I'll be posting 12 different polls: AL East hitters, AL East pitchers, NL East hitters, NL East pitchers, etc. So as not to clog up the discussion section I've created a new sub-board for voting. You should be able to find it at the top of the discussion section.
