State of the Athletics 1/21/19

Dear Oakland A's Fans,

This is my first press conference since taking over the team in June of 2017. I want to ensure to you, the fans, that even though I have a record of 6-21-4 in that span, that the Oakland A's ballclub is going to remain a competitive baseball team. We have pieces in place for the future and are doing everything we can to stay competitive at this juncture of our ballclubs history. Progress, for the sake of progress, may sometimes get worse before it gets better, but we want to ensure you all a playoff berth by the end of the 2022 season.

Remaining competitive is one of the lynchpins of making leagues like ours memorable. Find ABs and IPs for the regular season and hope you catch the fish while you’re in the boat, even if you think you don’t have enough bait.
