The 2011 Pro-Gm Amateur Draft will begin on Tuesday August 16th at 12:00 PM EST.
There have been a few revisions to the policies for the draft that I'd just like to make everyone aware of:
1. The time per pick will be 12 hours for the first round, and 6 hours for all subsequent rounds (including the compensatory round).
2. In order to allow teams with significant salary cap constraints a chance to improve via the draft, there will be a Draft Salary Exemption of $2.4 million. This means that a team may draft up to 6 players beyond the current salary cap, provided that they resolve their salaries and become cap compliant prior to the start of the following season. Please be aware that while we are making this exception for salary constraints, the roster limit will still be 70 players and any drafted player will be immediately placed on your roster.
Please see the Draft Procedures thread in the rules folder for a more detailed look at the rules for the draft (we will update that to reflect these 2 changes as soon as possible). If you have any questions please contact the Rays GM, Reds GM, or myself.
