AL East:
The Red Sox Have clinched the AL East division title and the number 1 seed in the AL playoff bracket. The Red Sox wil play the winner of the AL West in the first round of the playoffs.
AL Central:
The Royals have clinched the AL Central division title. They can clinch the number 2 seed in the AL Playoff Bracket with a win or tie or a Blue Jays loss or tie. The Royals will play the Wild Card winner in the first round of the playoffs.
AL West:
The Mariners lead the Angels by 1 game with 1 remaining this week. Both will have a tough matchup this week as the Mariners battle the Indians and the Angels battle the Red Sox. If they tie in the standings, the Angels would win the tiebreak. The winner of this division will be the 4th seed in the AL playoff bracket and will play the Red Sox in the first round.
AL Wildcard:
Here's where it gets interesting folks. The Blue Jays lead the wild card by 1 game over the Rays and the Indians. A win or tie allows the Blue Jays to clinch the wildcard. A Blue Jays win combined with a Royals loss makes them the 2nd seed in the AL, otherwise the wildcard winner will be the 3rd seed. If the Wildcard ends in a tie, the Rays hold the tiebreak over both the Blue Jays and the Indians. The Blue Jays would win a tiebreaker against the Indians. All 3 have somewhat favorable, but still potentially difficult, matchups this week with the Blue Jays playing the Tigers, the Indians playing the Mariners, and the Rays playing the Orioles. The Wildcard winner will play the Royals in the first round of the playoffs.
The first round AL Playoff Matchups will be:
#1 Red Sox vs. #4 AL West Winner
#2/3 Royals vs. #2/3 Wildcard Winner
