The date for the Rule 5 Draft has not been selected but will be announced at least one week before it begins.

I really don't expect the Rule 5 draft to be very extensive this year. In future years there may be more eligible players but this year it's probably not gonna be terribly exciting. I just don't want anyone's expectations to be too high. We have to have it though (or something like it) because it's the only thing stopping GMs from hoarding MLB players in their minors.

Still, today is already the 3rd Sunday in November, as listed in the Yearly Calendar as the date for the Rule 5. When can we expect this to open?

Still, today is already the 3rd Sunday in November, as listed in the Yearly Calendar as the date for the Rule 5. When can we expect this to open? Generally this will be the date that we aim for. However, as it's our first year, it's taken us a bit longer than anticipated to get 2012 rosters posted and there are a number of GM posts to fill (which I'm currently working on doing). Once we've made some more progress with that I'll be able to give you a clearer answer on the start date, but I'm thinking it'll be right around the beginning of December. Meanwhile, rosters are not frozen; you're welcome to trade, make moves, etc, all you want.
