I'm just thinking here... and some of you might agree with me on this... I'm tired of everyone asking me for Moustakas or Hosmer when I ask them about a player. For example, if I was trying to acquire Blake Wood for my team (already on it) and I ask, who are you interested in, I don't want to hear you offer me Blake Wood for Mike Moustakas. That's just stupid. I'm not going to make that trade. There is a GM who might in this league, but I won't. If I ask you about a low level guy who is a back role bullpen guy that might throw 50 innings this year, don't demand a top 10 prospect in baseball.
Do any of you other guys have this issue? I know a lot of you have good prospects. Thoughts?

I've noticed sometimes that it's better not to have a great farm system when it comes to trade negotiations - people are gonna look at your best prospect and think "I just want that guy." A B+ prospect on a team where he's the best prospect is going to have lots more trade value than a B+ prospect on a team where there are three or four A or A- guys ahead of him.

I think that if you inquire about a player then you should make the offer. If you ask what it would take to get him then don't be upset if they ask for too much. What is the player worth to you?

Well of course its natural to want the best guy in a trade. nothing to complain about really. Your gonna get a bad offer here and there.

if you don't like their offer, counter it with one that favors you. the way i see negotiations typically working is you start off high-balling, your trade partner starts off low-balling, and eventually you meet in the middle.

I always high ball obiosuly because too often in a fair trade, the person will still say they want more. If I offer high, then I get close to what my original offer would have been, maybe even more.

All very valid points. but it's every time I make an offer, teams are like, no, I want Moustakas. Like Montgomery sucks. Oh well.

I dont know anyone that offer sa trade and it gets accepted right away. Usually it will go back and forth. I will throw a low ball offer, you might laugh then throw me a an offer in your favor then ill laugh and eventually we will meet in the middle. We are going to try and get the most with the least. Its what you do.
