Just some thoughts, one month in. Feel free to vent here as well.
My Mets are ravaged by injury. And under-performance. I need a first baseman. But I'd rather start Steve Pearce than nobody. Seems more fun that way, to at least put a guy in there. Is Jordany Valdespin too good at what he does to not deserve to start? Some parity seems to be blossoming league-wide. I'd really like to see Cingrani on my roster. Which Pro-GM off-season signee will be traded first?

I always feel like my team looks good on paper and they always blow. Roughly 6 solid players on DL since season has started. Missed out on a good week from Hanley and Delmon is really frustrating. And now Hanley looks like he's headed back to the DL. Parity is definitely happening. Looking back at some bad trades also hurts. Fire sale coming soon.

Yea injuries to Grandy and Hart have not helped my team. I was expecting to fight for a playoff spot. It is a long season though

You know what, I am just pissed off that I am in the same division as the Giants and Diamondbacks. I love my team and feel like it's probably 3rd best in the NL, unfortunately 1 and 2 are division foes. Which, ultimately will lead me to be on the outside of the playoffs looking in.
That won't stop me from trying though.

I honestly didn't expect to be undefeated at this point, I've gotten some truly shocking offensive production out of my team thus far, I never would've guessed that any of these would've happened let alone all of them: - John Buck leads the team with 10 HR in the first 5 weeks - Paul Goldschmidt tied for the team lead with 4 SB, leads the team with 20 bb and an .888 OPS - Dan Uggla, despite his putrid batting average of .184, has 5 hr and 17 bb to make him a decent 2B - Josh Donaldson led the team in XBH with 15, but is only the second most valuable 3B on the team thanks to Sandoval's .331 Batting average -Ruggiano's counting stats are about the same as Goldschmidt's with the exception of walks (but he has more home runs!!!)
And my personal favorite: -Since the injury to Justin Maxwell, Brandon Barnes has taken over in CF for the Astros and in 49 At Bats, he's got a .327 avg, .870 OPS, 1 HR, 3 SB, 6BB, and 4XBH. By far my favorite rule 5 pick I made this year (although Kozma's been a good one as well), can't wait to see if he keeps it up!

I feel equally lucky to be undefeated...I caught several teams that have key players on the DL so the second time around with those teams will be a fight. Have the Jays and Rays a total of four times this season and those two teams are loaded so every win I can pick up prior to playing them is big. Tough in division match up with the Royals this week...got to win the division since the wild card will likely be in the AL East. Surprised there has not been a tie anywhere yet after 5 weeks....lot of blow outs however.

I'm trying to figure out how Brandon Crawford has 5 HRs already this season

My hitters are doing slightly better than I was expected despite a rash of injuries. Meanwhile my pitchers are doing horrendously worse than I was expecting. Ugh

I'm a little salty cause I feel I built a nice team, not too deep but with the best bullpen in this league (my opinion) but such a lack of starting pitching. Didnt expect to have 3 of them start in the minors. Then I lose to a team that had half a starting lineup. I feel a minimum at bats rule should be added for next year, like innings pitched.
Had a lot of hope but I agree with Logan, going to be tough to make the playoffs with a few stacked teams. So I'm in sell mode!

If a minimum at bats rule were possible, it would exist.
Or maybe it's possible and I don't know how to do it, in which case if anyone does, feel free to educate me.

Replacing OPS with PAs might make a lot of sense actually. All of the various components of OPS are already represented in AVG, BB, and XBH/HR. Taking away one of the rate stats and replacing it with a counting stat would eliminate one of the two ways a team with a minimalist lineup can beat you.

I never knew if it existed, just a thought incase. But innings pitched is a stat category, maybe plate appearances should be too...

Hey Guys, In the spirit of evaluating our teams one month in, I took all of our cumulative stats from Yahoo and did a power ranking of our overall performance by team in the attached excel spreadsheet. In my method, each individual scoring category was worth up to 30 points (best team receives 30, 2nd best receives 29,..., worst team receives 1), and then were ranked based on who had the most total points. Enjoy! Attachments:

Nice work Jays. 4th in the whole league according to those rankings yet 3rd in my division. Too bad we can't do 2 wild card teams.
