UPDATE: some GMs have expressed dissent with the scalp round idea. Since it was never put up for an official vote, a vote has been added to the top of this post. Please vote whether scalp round is something you support.
Scalp Round! It was announced a while back but I was a bit delayed implementing it. Here's how it works:
Any time you go into a regular season week against an opponent 2 or more games ahead of you in the standings, you have an opportunity to get a scalp by beating that team. Your scalp will earn you a pick in the following year's draft during the Scalp Round, which will take place in between rounds 3 and 4. The draft order in the scalp round will be determined by the magnitude of your scalp - if you beat a team that was 5 games ahead of you at the start of the match up, that's worth more than beating a team that was just 3 games ahead of you. If two scalps have equal magnitude, whichever happened earlier in the season will be the first to pick. If two scalps have equal magnitude and happened in the same week, then it will go by draft order for that season (whoever picks first in the draft will pick first to break the tie).
Ties are not considered scalps. Wins only.
Announce your scalps here in this thread. Do your best to announce your scalps as soon as possible after they happen, as it will be much easier for you (and the commissioners) to determine how many games ahead you were, etc the sooner you do it. Any scalps not announced prior to the conclusion of our World Series will not earn you a scalp pick.
Announce your scalps by telling us what week they occurred in, who you beat, and how many games behind you were at the start of the match up. Since I'm late in getting this thread started, I'll announce all scalps that have occurred thus far in the season. Use them as an example for what information you need to post when you announce your scalps. However, feel free to make yours as colorful as you like, to use this space to trash talk the teams you take down, to congratulate people on scalps well done, etc.
Remember, this is a tool to keep everyone engaged! Looking over the would-be scalps from previous seasons we discovered that just about everyone had the potential to earn them, except for the very top teams (nobody ahead of them) and the very bottom teams (they never won). Other than those exceptions, good teams, bad teams, and middle teams all earned scalps - so stay competitive and active and earn yours!
