Shortly I will be opening up the thread to post 2018 rosters, but before I do I just wanted to remind people about a few rule changes that are now in effect:
1) Our pitching staffs have been reduced to 9 pitchers instead of 11 (active at a time on Yahoo). The positions will be 4 SP, 4 RP, 1 P. The minimum innings pitched per week will be lowered to 20. Bench spots will be increased to 7, so the roster size will remain at 25. You may use bench spots on hitters or pitchers.
2) The salary cap has been raised to $140 million, but you'll likely not actually have any additional free money. That's because cost controlled salaries have been raised to the following:
1st year/ minors - $0.5 million
2nd year - $1.0 million
3rd year - $1.5 million
4th year - $2.0 million
5th year - $2.5 million
6th year - $3.0 million
3) For this year's free agents, compensation will be awarded as follows: if one of your players signs with another team for $15 million annually (or more) before discounts, you will earn a comp pick in Comp Round B, which takes place after the second round. This pick will be upgraded instead to Comp A (after the first round) if the total salary before discounts exceeds $50 million. You can only earn comp picks for players who were on your roster for the entire season starting opening day - if you acquired a player during the regular season, you will not be able to receive a comp pick for him (but hometown discount still applies!)
Roster posting will take place over the next few weeks, after which I will start roster approval. The official rosters are actually in pretty good shape right now (there may be some mistakes due to the sheer volume of moves I had to process, but I tried to get everything updated at least up to the trade deadline). This should expedite the approval process, making it a lot faster than last year. Rule V will take place around the holidays, and Free Agency will begin sometime in the beginning of January. Speaking of free agency, Shohei Otani will not be eligible as he will not have turned 24 by January 1. He will be eligible for the 2018 Amateur Draft, instead.
