The MLBPA has proposed that the league adopt a universal DH as soon as 2019. Commissioner Manfred has indicated that there will be no changes to the DH rule until the current CBA expires (2021) at the earliest.
How do you feel about the DH and the proposed change?

Although the question pertains to real life, from a fantasy standpoint (and especially a league like ours), one nice side effect of this change is it would add 15 more full-time players to the pool!

DH all the way! I know there are fans out there that love the "strategy" of the pitcher coming to bat however it is my belief those fans are badly outnumbered. The vast majority of pitchers now are lousy hitters. Folks want runs and offense. The NFL doesn't have different rules for AFC teams and NFC teams. Why does baseball? One league in Japan (Central League) and the National League are really the only professional leagues the pitcher hits. DH everywhere else. Looks like it will happen in 2022 with the next CBA.
Pace of game now is a bigger problem for me.

My preference isn’t available among these choices. I would say yes, but at this point it has to wait until next season so GM’s have a full season to plan for the change with their roster construction. No way you can do it immediately when we’re at the end of the off-season and teams have made this many moves based on planning for the current rule set.

I think that counts as "ASAP" (at least, what I meant by it when I wrote the question). You're just saying that 2020 is the soonest possible option.

I like the national league game but I think not having a dh hurts the nl teams in interleauge and world series games. I think it would be a good add but teams would need at least a season to prepare for it

As bad as some pitchers are with the bat there’s just something so satisfying about watching big sexy trot around the bases or a guy like Woodruff taking someone like Kershaw deep in the playoffs.
