Redshirt requests are due by the end of the day on May 1 (midnight Pacific Time - hard deadline). May 1 is a Wednesday, so those players will get to stay on your roster this whole week. They will have to be removed after this week. If a redshirt is rejected, you can appeal up until the end of the day Saturday. Appeals must be completed by that time to give us time to review them so we can remove the player for the following week. The player must be removed from the roster by the week beginning May 6.
No teams have used the redshirt rule this season. In discussing the apparent lack of interest in using the rule (which seems to dwindle a bit every year), we the commissioners have decided that the time has come to remove the redshirt rule completely effective after this season.
There will be no redshirt rule starting in 2020. The reasons for this are many, but for me, the most compelling is that it simply doesn't make sense to keep removing players from the playing pool every year in a league as deep as ours. There just aren't enough players to go around. It's also a bookkeeping headache, and given the apparent lack of interest in using it this year, it's not worth that effort.
So if there are players you want to use it on, this is the year to do it!
