Welcome back to the Pro-GM 2022 Virtual Hall of Fame Ballot!
On last year's ballot, with 20 participants, we elected Derek Jeter (85%, a carry-over since we skipped 2020), Barry Bonds (85%), and Roger Clemens (75%). Although it's hard to tell (as previous polls no longer reflect accurate voting numbers due to GMs whose accounts have been deleted), I believe this was the first time Bonds made the cut here, and the second time (and first since 2014, again with exactly 75%) for Clemens. Changing opinions, or changing electorate? Who can say?
Just missing last year were Manny Ramirez (70%), Sammy Sosa (60%), and Andruw Jones (60%). A bit further down we had Curt Schilling (55%), Todd Helton (55%), Gary Sheffield (50%), Scott Rolen (45%), and Omar Vizquel (45%). Also receiving votes and thus making the all-important (though not really, here) 5% cutoff were Jeff Kent (30%), Torii Hunter (20%), Andy Pettitte (15%), Billy Wagner (15%), and Mark Buehrle (10%). With zero votes, Bobby Abreu and Tim Hudson would've fallen off our ballot, but since they reached the threshold on the real one they will join us again this year. How will they fare this time? How about our newcomers?
We had two GMs register a "blank ballot" last year. It is important that you check the "blank ballot" box if you don't wish to vote for anyone, rather than simply not participating, as we are only counting election rates among participants. In other words, if 20 people vote, 15 votes (75% of 20) gets you in. That means 10 people in our league didn't participate, which is fine (this is just for fun, participation is not mandatory) but they had no effect on the vote. If you want to affect the vote with your blank ballot, then you must actually submit a "BLANK BALLOT."
You may vote for up to ten names. Feel free to choose less. Once again, if you don't want to vote for anybody make sure to select the "BLANK BALLOT" option so that we still register your vote for zero. ONLY select "BLANK BALLOT" if you're voting for NOBODY.
So who are we electing? Vote and discuss!
