Let's vote for some Hall of Famers!
On last year's ballot with 18 GMs voting we elected three players: Gary Sheffield (15 votes, 83.3%), Carlos Beltran (14 votes, 77.8%), and Manny Ramirez (14 votes, 77.8%). Unfortunately our vote doesn't actually count and the BBWAA didn't agree, so all three are back on the ballot this year for you to vote for again! (Or not, if you prefer.)
The one player the BBWAA did elect last year, Scott Rolen, actually had just the seventh highest vote total on our ballot (9 votes, 50%). Ahead of him were Andruw Jones (12 votes, 66.7%), Alex Rodriguez (12 votes, 66.7%), and Todd Helton (12 votes, 61.1%). Jeff Kent (8 votes, 44.4%) and Billy Wagner (8 votes, 44.4%) were next, followed by Andy Pettitte (7 votes, 38.9%), Torii Hunter (5 votes, 27.8%), and Omar Vizquel (3 votes, 16.7%). All of those players return on our 2024 ballot, since all received 5% from the BBWAA as well.
Also receiving at least one vote to reach the 5% threshold (on our ballot at least) were Bobby Abreu (2 votes, 11.1%), Mark Buehrle (2 votes, 11.1%), Matt Cain (2 votes, 11.1%), R.A. Dickey (1 vote, 5.6%), Andre Ethier (1 vote, 5.6%), Francisco Rodriguez (1 vote, 5.6%), Jimmy Rollins (1 vote, 5.6%), and Huston Street (1 vote, 5.6%). Of that group, Abreu, Buehrle, Rodriguez, and Rollins return based off the "real" results, while Cain, Dickey, Ethier, and Street do not.
Joining them are newcomers Jose Bautista, Adrian Beltre, Bartolo Colon, Adrian Gonzalez, Matt Holliday, Victor Martinez, Joe Mauer, Brandon Phillips, Jose Reyes, James Shields, Chase Utley, and David Wright.
If you don't want to vote that's totally fine. If you want to intentionally vote for nobody however, that's a little bit different - since our percentages are based on the number of participants, the only way your vote will affect the ballot is if you select "BLANK BALLOT" so that your participation is registered. Please ONLY SELECT "BLANK BALLOT" IF YOU ARE VOTING FOR NOBODY ELSE.
As always you may vote for up to ten names, but you are welcome to choose fewer. Which players will receive the TRUE honor of election to the Pro-GM Hall of Fame this year?
