The Rule 5 Draft will begin in this thread on Thursday, December 15, at 6:00 PM EST. It will last for one round.
GMs may draft any player who has one year of service time (over 130 ABs, over 50 IPs, or over 25 Games Pitched) that appears in this league's minor leagues.
You must place any players drafted on your 40 man roster, and if you attempt to waive the player at any time during the following season the team who lost him in the Rule 5 Draft has first priority.
However, you may also draft any non-rostered minor leaguer (has not completed a year of service) that will be 24 years of age or older on January 1, as long as he has been in MiLB for at least a year, and in this case you do not need to put the player on your 40-man roster.
Picks in the draft will last for 4 hours. If you miss your pick the draft will continue to the next person. You will have an additional 20 hours during which you can make the pick up. If you have not picked by then, you lose your pick.
When drafting a player, please post the player's name and position, former team (from our league), and service time, and then announce who is up next, like so:
Pirates select: Daniel Nava, OF, Boston Red Sox One year service time. Mariners are up now.
Please note that there are some changes from the draft procedures notice posted in the rules. Please ignore that notice; these are the official Rule 5 Draft Procedures.
You do not need to use your draft picks. If you would like to help keep things moving, send me and Brian a PM asking us to skip your pick. You can still change your mind; we'll still give you 24 hours to make up your pick, but that way we don't have to wait around for you for 4 hours and we'll get to free agency much faster.

Just to reiterate, there are two types, and only two types, of players available in Rule V.
1: Players who ARE on a roster, who are in a Pro-GM team's minor leagues even though they've completed a year of service.
2: Players who ARE NOT on a roster, who will be age 24 or older on January 1 and HAVE NOT completed a year of service - said players must have at least one year in MiLB.
If a player is on your roster and hasn't completed a year of service, then you don't have to worry about protecting him, regardless of his age. The 24 years-of-age rule only applies to players not on rosters whatsoever.
Likewise, if a player is not on a roster, he can only be drafted if he'll be 24 or older on January 1.

The Rule 5 Draft begins today at 6:00 pm with the Yankees.
IF YOU DO NOT PLAN TO USE YOUR PICK, PLEASE CONTACT ME!
Even if we skip your pick, you can still make one within 24 hours of your original pick time (just like during the amateur draft). But it'll get us through the draft and to free agency much faster.
As we currently do not have a White Sox GM, all players on the White Sox roster in the Official Rosters thread are off-limits for the Rule V Draft.

^^^The above was posted out of protocol. I'm hoping that was not a foul ball on my part, but I work nights....and the timing of it all worked as so I can post my pick at 5:59am and give the Athletics until 10am EST to post a pick, if he plans on doing so.
I've sent the Athletics at PM notifying him of his chance to snag a Rule V pick up by then. However, by time the sun rises, I'm guessing the higher-ups will either confirm or modify my assumption.

Yeah, that's fine. Unfortunately some picks will end up being overnight, but because we're giving teams 20 additional hours to make up their picks if they miss them, we feel that this is OK.
