Two years, $14 million
Bid shouldn’t extend end time since I’m outbidding myself - just switching terms to a two year offer, assuming Mike and his agent agree.

I personally hate that rule.
Instead of getting 1 year and the penalty that comes with it since it's over 10M, at the literal last few minutes you can change to 2 years and avoid the penalty, and get a discount?
I feel like that's a bit of a loophole that needs to close. At least extend bidding for a small window, or don't allow changes to bids in the last hour or so.

Why does it make a difference? If somebody wanted to outbid me they could have just the same. Either way I’m still the one willing to pay the most - whether that’s over one year or two years doesn’t matter, nobody was willing to top it. Why should me increasing my offer make somebody reconsider outbidding me? The only reason I waited until the last minute was so as not to confuse the bidding and make people think there was more time than there was. This way it was clear to all that Zunino was expiring when he was. If I’d bid, say, 3 hours ago, then folks might’ve seen that time stamp and thought “oh there’s plenty of time left, no reason to bid now.” I waited until the last minute to give everyone full transparency on the end time as long as possible. Extending the bidding beyond the 24 hours allows GMs to postpone the bid on free agents they maybe reconsidered and DON’T want, and forces everyone to wait longer to open the next guy. That change would hurt everybody. The way it is now, me changing my bid hurts nobody.

I respect what you're saying, but disagree that you should be able to save yourself that 1 year premium penalty at the last minute by tacking on an extra year.
Maybe I'm in the minority, wanted to bring it out.

Maybe I'm in the minority, wanted to bring it out. While he may be saving on the 2 million penalty he might've paid, he's adding an extra year of salary at ~12 million. He's ultimately paying much more. If you weren't willing to beat his offer of 1/14, there's no reason to believe you would've beaten his offer at 2/14 so I don't personally agree that it should be a problem. I'm willing to let the discussion continue in a rules thread (NOT on this FA thread) and put it to a league vote if at least 5 people agree with Rob's perspective on this.
